The New Obsolete

The New Obsolete is Invisible thinking out loud about obsolescence—the disease that strikes stuff.  The epidemic brings to its knees the slickest of the new.  Sometimes it’s contagious.  In a tight spot we find ourselves wondering if some of our parts or motives are inappropriate for the times.  Invisible wants to snuggle up before a simulated wood laserdisc machine and say, “I know.”  We want to pick up abandoned threads of technology and imagine where they could have gone.  And, of course, we want to get our materials at the scrap yard or thrift shop.

The show was born script first.  Our words hit the Selectric Piano and we listened.  We chose synonyms, rephrased, and threw in capital letters for resolution.  The resulting tones and rhythms became the foundation of our compositions.
